Tonight two big fighters of the NBA will confront dear fears and their weaknesses in a matchup where the best will be the winner. I’m talking about the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks.
This 2007-08 NBA season has been really difficult for the Suns, due to issues in the internal structure of the team, but their anxiety and thirst for more led them to continue in the quest to achieve a good job and claim the best Western Conference record.
Up to now, the Suns are averaging 112.3 points and shooting directly from the field 51.2 percent moving them to the top spot of the West. But they have had bad times for example the 97-90 loss against Los Angeles Clippers and the 3-5 stretch on last December.
I have to admit that they have been playing really good, trying to protect all the critical points of their team to prevent a fatal defeat. They have been giving a lot not only defensively but offensively and also their consistency (the key of success) has taken them really far.
But there’s still a lot of work to do from the inside, the good players needs more mental stimulation and really hard practice and this will help them to get more comfortable when they are in the field.
A good example of this is Raja Bell who made an excellent presentation in the game against the New Jersey Nets on Sunday; he was 5-10 on three point range and scored 20 points giving the Suns a flawless victory.
Also Steve Nash, one of the greatest NBA players, helped the Suns to survive during their game against the Bucks, scoring 26 of his season high 35 points.
Regarding the Milwaukee Bucks, there’s not much to say, we all have seen the way they have played and how far are they of a “good season record”. They are not playing well, they are missing easy moves in the field, easy points and this is something to be worried about.
For example Michael Redd scored 17 of his team high 19 points and missed seven field goal attempts, a really critical situation. Coach Larry Krystkowiak admitted that they are not scoring “open shots” and he knows that the only way to survive in an open situation is to make and score shots.
I wish the Suns the best and also for the Bucks, I know both teams are giving their best and if not, then results will tell us later.
