Today I want to dedicate this article to honor a NFL team that surpassed all expectatives after all this 2007 NFL season. I’m talking of course about the New York Giants, who came unknown by many of us to thel playoffs and became one of the two Super Bowl LXII contenders.

During the playoffs they faced the Green Bay Packers, a well known team thanks to their aggressive field plays. But the Giants defeated them in a flawless game, now all of us have thought if this was just luck or because they really deserve it.

But at this point it doesn’t matter what the real reason is, because they already got their pass to the Super Bowl and nothing will change this after all. What really matters is if they are prepared to fight the great New England Patriots, will they work on strategies or just play to see how far their luck goes on this final matchup?

I’ve been reading many articles from many different places regarding this topic and there are a lot of comments and rumors, but the best thing I found about the Giants success over the Packers is that they are now America’s team.

I don’t think this is a right nickname for the Giants who didn’t made a big effort to get where they are now. The sour taste regarding this is their low profile to be a final contender, there were more NFL teams that really deserve this title by far just to mention one: the Dallas Cowboys with Tony Romo and Terrell Owens or the great Indianapolis Colts with Payton Manning and felt down for the first time in the regular season when facing the Pats. (Really good profile to be the Pats contenders)

At the same time I do recognize that they have some great players that are achieving really good plays, changing the course of the team to good victories. Such as young quarterback Eli Manning who worked really hard on the final appearances, redeemed Lawrence Tynes who is a really good kicker and the first black general manager Jerry Reese.

It’s a good quantity of players, isn’t it? But will this be enough to face the Patriots on February 3?

And now with the rumors about Tom Brady’s health, it’s possible that the Giants feel that the opportunities for them to reach the NFL champions title are increasing.

At this point Belichick haven’t talked to the press about Brady’s real situation and so him. It’s really scary at this point to think that Tom won’t be able to play the last game and more terrifying if we think that he is the key to the success of this great team.
