This 2008 NBA season the defending champions San Antonio Spurs has suffered many disappointed defeats in hands of their contenders.

The opportunity this time was for the New Orleans Hornets who beat the Spurs in a final score of 100-75, they did an amazing job and a really big effort against this big NBA team.

The star of the night was David West from the Hornets, who after missing three consecutive games came back with more energy and with the same inspiration to maintain his outstanding shooting touch.

West was sidelined and missed three games after he suffered of a sprained left ankle. This injury forced David to be away from practices and of course from the field for a few time, but he showed that even with out playing for so long he has still all the necessary elements to fight as usual.

He said to the press that during his days of absence he maintains an active routine: “I stayed in the gym,”; “I wasn’t able to run, but I was able to shoot. It was just coming out ready to compete, feeling like I was ready to go tonight. It was big. I was ready to get back out there.”

West’s foot were all around the field, he made from mid range jumpers to jump hooks that puts in a hurry all the Spurs team, but even they try to run as fast as possible the 29 points and ten rebounds that West made smashed the Spurs actuation.

This game was with no doubt at all a matchup to remember, where the Hornets shot 59% against the Spurs who only shot 43%. Let’s remember that the Spurs once held 26 of 30 opponents’ less than one hundred points.

I would also like to mention that Chris Paul was also part of this wonderful victory for the Hornets, by adding 26 points and 17 assists. Many of his assists came from West’s baskets.

From the Spurs, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker did as always an incredible job maintaining their strong ways to play. Definitely this game was not on the Spurs’ side but at least they did a big fight.

They are not an easy contender!!!
