A new MLB star is shining bringing some unexpected plays to all the spectators. His name is Johnny Cueto from the Cincinnati Reds.
He broke-up his Cincinnati teammate’s expectations when he threw a 96 mph fastball; he blew away all the batters that face him without any problem. This was just amazing, a 22 year old boy played like a veteran and even better.
Cueto definitely lead the Reds to 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, he stopped all the possibilities of his contenders to make a complete play. He only allowed a homer in the seven innings and made a total of ten strikes out.
Johnny Cueto was born in 1985, in Dominican Republic and has played for the minor baseball league for three seasons. He started his career with the Gulf Coast Reds achieving a record of 5.02 ERA and then he started with another team called Low A Dayton progressively better posting 2.61 ERA and 0.88 WHIP.
Due to Cueto’s great performance, the MLB decided to give him an opportunity to show to the world his amazing ways to play baseball.
He was acquire by the Cincinnati Reds and made his debut as right hander pitcher on April 3, 2008 making news not only between his teammates but also between the people that watched the game.
Most likely he will become one of the top ten pitching prospects.
Here are some of the comments that were heard after Cueto’s debut:
“The guys on the bench were saying they haven’t seen anything like this in a long time,” manager Dusty Baker said. “I guess it’s something they’ve never seen, and there’s a lot they still haven’t seen from this young man.”
“He was unbelievable two years ago,” said Upton, who faced him once in Class A. “He’s got great stuff. He pounds the (strike) zone with it. He’s just a great pitcher. Obviously he made the team for a reason. He’s major league ready.”
