Yesterday night we saw the San Antonio Spurs running against the time avoiding the possibility to be off from the finals as they know they are the defending champions.
I think this is the way all the NBA teams must play in every challenge they have in order to gain respect, good image and an important spot in the top NBA teams.
Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker worked really good and showed the big potential that is on their arms. They run and tried to manage the entire situation the best they can to obtain a finally victory of 110-99 against the New Orleans Hornets.
Definitely the San Antonio Spurs teammates played with passion and decided not to be defeated to become once again the NBA champions.
Manu and Parker scored 31 points each one giving their team a big advantage over the Hornets, while Duncan added a total of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Their way to play was aggressive and unstoppable.
But of course the Hornets gave the Spurs a really hard time by trying to block their adversaries, the leader of the Hornets on yesterday’s game was Chris Paul who scored 35 points and 9 assists.
Also the NBA player David West added emotion and weaken opportunities to the Hornets to survive by adding 23 points and 12 rebounds. Let’s also remember that West was really dominant in the first two games of the 2008 NBA series.
What did the NBA players said about this?
“They made a lot more shots,” Paul said. “We got away from our defensive game plan somewhat. We didn’t defend as well as we did the first two games.”
“We knew that they were going to play better at home. We just didn’t respond,” West said.
And from San Antonio: “We know that going 3-0 - it’s never been done to come back like that,” said Ginobili, who along with Parker consistently got to the rim. “Today, for us, it was a Game 7. We knew if we didn’t win today, it was almost over. So we had a different approach. We played with more passion, more edge.”
