Did you guys remember the murdered of the NFL player Sean Taylor during the past NFL season?
Well for those who weren’t aware of the death of the Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor, let me give you a brief description of the events.
He was at his home with his girlfriend and his little baby when he suddenly heard a noise outside of his house. He went out to check what was going on, when a shot hit his upper leg causing him a massive loss of blood that kills the Pro Bowl Safety NFL player.
Many commemorations were displayed on his honor and the NFL authorities made all the necessary arrangements to give Sean the best goodbye.
Even though this happened to the Redskins, they continued to fight for the possibilities of a spot in the playoffs but their efforts were not enough.
After all this painful situation the investigators on the murder of Sean started to research on all tracks and events that happened before his death to penalize who caused this tremendous situation.
Four suspects were charged regarding the murder of Sean and immediately send to jail under strict monitoring. Even though they are behind bars, there is one suspect that was under age when he deadly shot the NFL player.
Due to the new law of the U.S Supreme Court regarding the crimes committed by under age people, the person cannot be executed. And also the other three suspects that were involved won’t be charge with the death penalty because they are not directly responsible for the murdered.
The trial of Sean’s death is scheduled for August, 25 and after we all heard that they won’t be executed, we at least have the hope that the ones that killed Taylor the past November get a maximum of prison life.
Apparently the name of the person that shot Taylor is: Eric Rivera Jr. who on April turned 18 years old. So, this means that when he committed the crime he was just 17 and he cannot be penalized with death.
Is this fair? What do you think about this new “law”?
I think that even though he was “under age”, he deserves to pay for the crime because by that moment he acted as an adult and he most assumed the consequences of his acts.
If not, it would be really easy for the criminals to prepare under age boys to kill other people and get what they want, because simply they can’t be executed.
