It’s all bad luck for the americans in Tennis right now, as Robby Ginepri became the last one to be eliminated from the Roland Garros as he fell to 25th ranked Fernando Gonzalez.
Now is the turn for Gonzalez to truly show his potential as he is meeting number 1 ranked Roger Federer a the next stage
Meanwhile, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is going into the quarter finals to face 19 year old Ernests Gulbis from Latvia, if he passes, he will probably meet with Rafael Nadal on the next stage. Nadal is set to play against 19th ranked Nicolas Almagro .
On the women’s side, Dinara Safina upset number one ranked Maria Sharapova and became the second high ranked female tennist to say good bye to Roland Garros as Serena Williams is gone too.
This is not new as Dinara Safina took on Sharapova at this same stage back in 2006, now she has Elena Dementieva on her road.
Sharapova is coming from winning the Australian Open, and was looking to win the French Open title for the first time on his career. If Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic or Svetlana Kuznetsova either makes it to the finals, Sharapova is likely to lose her number one rank.
