A view on the world of sports in general

This is an interesting moment in sports, as on one hand, we have the finals for the French open, the NBA finals starts tonight with the Lakers visiting the Celtics at the TD Banknorth Garden, and the Penguins who lost to the almighty Red Wings at the finals for the NHL Stanley Cup yesterday. Oh and lets not forget the Euro Cup!

Lets begin with the NBA, as the Celtics have court advantage and I am giving them an edge at this point, then on female tennis, two less-known players have come with great victories and are going to face each other at the finals of the Roland Garros, they are Dinara Safina, the sister of Marat Safin, and the russian Ana Ivanovic, while for the mens, Rafael Nadal is facing Novak Djokovic at the semifinals and whoever wins there, will go against the also winner of the match between Roger Federer and Gael Monfils, so Federer is likely to defeat Monfils, and Nadal will struggle against number 3 seeded Djokovic to repeat in the finals against Federer and hopefully win to come up with his fourth straight Rolang Garros title.

Then we have the Red Wings who won the Stanley Cup yesterday as expected, since they are truly a better team than probably every team in the NHL and they have being for years, so a deserved victory by 3-2 to the Penguins have them celebrating and drinking champagne.

Last but not least, we have the Euro Cup, who has Germany as favorites to win the cup, but the current Soccer World Cup champions Italy are not to be forgotten, well, it’s just a bit early to say who will do better in the most respected tournament in soccer all across Europe along with the Champions League, so let’s watch the first round and see what happens.
