Well, Brett Favre is officially with the Jets, and it seems like this is a new era for the NY team.

 Fans of the Gang Green couldn’t be happier with their team’s newest addition: a player with the quality of Joe Namath, the Jets most famous quarterback.

 So with the coming of Brett Favre, certainly there was no more space for Chad Pennington, the most promising Jets quarterback before the arrival of the 38 year-old veteran, and so Pennington signed a contract with the Dolphins, with whom he had a great debut as Miami defeated the Jaguars by 19-7, completing 5 of 6 passes for 55 yards and 2 scoring drives.

 On August 16^th, Favre had his debut with the Gang Green, but in despite of being in sharp on his 14 plays, the Jets fell to the Redskins by 13-10 at the Meadowlands.

 Obviously with Brett Favre on the team, the Jets have increased their chances of winning the AFC East, and are now a clear contender to win the conference championship.

As we all know, the Brett Favre-Packers soap opera hasn’t finished, as Favre wants to go back and play at the NFL, either with the Pack or with a different team.

 Brett Favre was supposed to show at the Packers camp on Sunday, but even though he didn’t, he did sign his letter for reinstatement.

 The Packers are more focused on making a better quarterback of Aaron Rodgers since he’s the guy that will be replacing Favre when he finally retire or leave the team, and since Favre asked to return, the Pack is not completely sure about letting him start most Green Bay games this coming season, as they want Rodgers to gain experience, and that is the main reason why Favre might play with a different NFL team.

 The teams that seems with the most chances of making it with the services of the veteran quarterback are the Bucs and the Jets for the moment, but the Jets will be the team most benefited with his arrival, as their starting quarterback Chad Pennington didn’t did so good last season, and with Brett Favre on the team, Pennington will surely become expendable.

 The hype of Favre to play again has come to the point that a guy by the name of Adam Rolfson created the now famous www.bringbackbrettfavre.com where people can go and vote for the all-star QB to play one more season (hopefully for Rolfson, to come back with the Packers).

 Right now, there is not a definite call on the matter, but it is for sure that Brett Favre will be throwing passes for touchdowns this coming seasons, the questions is for who…

Aparently the Packers are feed up with Brett Favre’s misleading statements about his retirement, as the famous quarterback has been playing with his team and with the press in general for a few years now.

The rumors are on that Favre is coming back after saying that he was leaving professional football for good, but in Green Bay, they probably think that maybe Aaron Rodgers is the man who’s going to give them a superbowl win, and with Favre being so old, if he returns, he will have to be ok with what Okland has for him, or he will have to negociate with other teams taking in consideration the Packers guidelines, as he’s still under contract.

 Critics are looking the Panthers and the Delphins as the teams that might land Brett Favre, as is pretty clear that the Packers wants to move withouth him this coming season. And they might be right, they need Rodgers to be in shape and for that, he needs to have some good playing minutes, so with Favre on the team, the starter choice will always be driven to the side of the veteran, but since Favre announced another soon-to-be-rumor about dedcating himself to something different than playing ball, the Packers have decided that if Favre comes back, he will need to stay at the bench as back-up for Aaron Rodgers, and that is something that will truly diminish the credibility of the Packs for this coming season, as fans will surely not be happy with Favre staying sidelined.

Yesterday at Boston, the Red Sox went into a pitcher’s game with the Twins as nobody could score until the 8^th inning when Manny Ramirez resurrected Boston’s hopes and won the game with an RBI single that drove Dustin Pedroia all through the four bases.

 Frustration was the dominant factor for both teams along the game for the guys that went to the bat, but for others like Daisuke Matsuzaka, the night at Fenway Park was simply outstanding.

 Matsuzaka is a player that is not recognized for going deep into games, but yesterday he managed to maintain his 9-1 record and take the game to the eight inning without allowing a single run by the Twins in the game that finished 1-0.

This was the first of a 3-game series to be played at Boston against the Twins, and with things looking like that we can expect the at least one more victory from the home team.

The Red Sox have been quite irregular during their last games, first with two straight losses to their most direct rival right now, the Tampa Bay Rays, then they flew to NY to face the Yankees, their all-time nemesis, and won 2 out of 4 at Yankee Stadium, so they are truly looking to revindicate with their fans against Minnesota, and we all know that the world series champs can do that and more…

It’s glorious moments for Spain’s sports as their soccer national team just won the Euro Cup a few days ago and Rafael Nadal just became the best tennist in the world as he won the two major titles in the sport, first the Roland Garros, and this weekend, he took the Wimbledon title from the hands of Roger Federer, who was on his way to match Bjorn Borg’s record of 5 straight Wimbledon championships.

 For Nadal, it meant the first time that a spaniard wins the tournament in 40 years.

 So on the records Roger Federer still shows as number one, but the real deal is that Rafael Nadal has done better than Federer this year all alone and for the swiss, the match against Nadal meant a loss on his favorite type of court: grass, which has never being the strong point for Nadal.

 “Whoever wins the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year for me is the number one in the world,” said three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker.

 According to critics, this is possibly the best match in tennis in history, and it was surely an epic one, with 5 sets that lasted 4 hours, 48 minutes, it was also the longest one.

 After the win, Rafael Nadal approached Roger Federer and apologized to the swiss for ruling out his chances of being there in history with Bjorn Now Federer’s only choice is to start from zero and win 5 straight, but with Nadal being younger and at his prime, it will surely be a difficult task, if not impossible.

Since Baron Davis is no longer a member of the Warriors, the Golden State professional NBA team is now pursuiding  the services of Elton Brand, the player who also opted out of his contract in order play with a serious contender. So Davis from the Warriors to the Clippers and Brand from the Clippers to the Warriors? I don’t think so…

 Elton Brand knows that in despited of the lucrative 5-year deal for $90 million — $20 more than what the Clippers can offer him – his chances of making it further in the season with Golden State will be null, so critics are sure that Brand will stay with LA no matter what the Warriors put on the table.

 There is another factor for Brand to stay, as he is a long-time friend of Davis and he knows that with the talent of both on the same team, they can do something similar this coming season to what the Celtics did, and that might be enough for him to take a final decision.

 Now that the Warriors are without Baron Davis, their roster is full of question marks… Their team is less competent and it seems like it was a one-man fight, now they will surely fall into the no-competent status.

 Unless they make it with the services of Gilbert Arenas to play along with Monta Ellis, they don’t have a chance this coming NBA season.

It’s just sad when you see talent getting wasted, and that is exactly what happened to Willie Andrews.

 The 24 year-old cornerback for the Patriots was fired from the team as he got arrested again in a very short period of time. Well, 2 arrests, 1 touchdown? I guess the numbers talk by themselves.

 In February Andrews got detained by the police due to drug charges, he was caught with half pound of marijuana and $6800 in cash. Aparently the drugs where not to be consumed by him but to be sold. The question here is, why a multi-million professional football player would risk his career to sell grass? I guess only Andrews knows that.

 Now Willie Andrews is facing jail as he got arrested due to domestic violence charges, aparently Andrews put a gun at his girlfriend’s head and she inmediately called 911 to report the agression. Andrews is still on probation for the drug possesion charges.

 Prior to his NFL career, Andrews spent 30 days in jail due to probation violation, aparently involving drugs also.

 The Patriots didn’t offer any comments on the Andrew’s dissmisal, but is well known that owner Robert Kraft and his wife are advocates of preventing domestic violence, and this might be the main reason why he had to leave the Pats.

Nets fans might be celebrating big time in a couple of years when Lebron James gets the option of opting out of his contract, as New Yersey seems to be his next destination.

 But they will also have another reason to celebrate, and that is the Atlantic Yards, a massive project that will be finished by 2010 and that will be located in Brooklyn, with a brand new stadium for the Nets as the centerpiece.

 Why the Nets? Well because Lebron James is fond of the New York, and he’s a personal friend of famous rapper Jay-Z, who is part owner of the team.

The other team that is also interested in Lebron’s services is another from New York, as the Knicks would be grateful to have a player like him in order to help them in the rebuilding of their franchise.

 Lebron James said that he feels quite confident and always plays well when he’s at the Madison Square Garden, and to play every single home game at that Arena, might help him to become a better player than what he already is.

 There is still too much time for Lebron James to end his deal with the Cavs, and there is no secret that teams like the Lakers will go after him when the time comes, so nothing has being really written in stone yet.

Things look to be pretty different for both of Chicago’s baseball teams, as the White Sox are on a winning run, while the Cubs hasn’t being able to win a few games in a while.

 Yesterday the White Sox and the Cubs finished a 3-game series with the Sox sweaping the Cubs on all 3 ending with last night’s victory of 5-1 at US Cellular Field. The 3 wins are coming as a sort of revenge as just one week ago the Cubs won 3 in a row to the Sox across town at Wrigley Field.

 The White Sox have won 5 of their last 6 matches, while the Cubs have lost 4 straight and 5 of 6 overall.

 Mark Buehrle was the hero of the night for the Sox as he went through 7 perfect innings and hitted more fast balls than ever, as he always hits for 82-85 MPH in the speed radar, but last night he was able to take those number to even 90 MPH.

 “My velocity was up there, and that makes all my other pitches good,” said Buehrle.

 But in despite of this series result, both teams walked away from US Cellular Field leading their own divisions, and they are not just even on their current leading stats as the all-time series for these two teams is now tied at 33-33.

 Even though they are  pretty equal this season, I think the White Sox have the more chances to make it further into the season than the Cubs.

Most people expected Michael Beasley to make it to number one at yesterday’s draft, but he went second instead. Of course it didn’t came as a big surprise that Derrick Rose got chosen before Beasley, since Rose is a native from Chicago, the city that got the first choice at the overall draft.

So Beasley was wondering if he was to be chosen as number 2 since the pick was in the hands of the Heat who showed more interest for OJ Mayo before the draft started, but at the end, Michael Beasley packed his stuff and headed to Miami to join Dwyane Wade.

As expected, Mayo got in third and was chosen by the Timberwolves who inmeadiately trade him to the Grizzlies for Kevin Love.

By the way, this is the first time in history that NCAA freshmen gets chosen in the first 3 positions of the NBA draft.

And for some reason New York fans didn’t liked their team’s choice, as the Knicks picked the best european in the draft, Danilo Gallinari at number 6 and the italian player got booed by NY fans. “It’s part of the game, all the players have got to hear this, not every time can you hear good things. It’s normal.” Gallinari said.

There were not real surprises at the draft and every single one of the first picks probably knew where they were going before the event took place, now we will have to see how the rookies are going to perform at this coming NBA season and if it was worth for their teams to make it with their services.
